Stephen Tyler PhD, MCIP, RPP
Stephen is the President of Adaptive Resource Management. He is trained as a professional planner and urban researcher, but has spent most of his career building bridges between innovative multi-disciplinary science and difficult public policy decision-making at various scales. He works on complex problems that lack direct technical solutions, but require new tools, new ways of thinking and collaborative learning.
History of community engagement
For more than 25 years, he has led projects that support practical community-level innovations in natural resource management, urban planning, adaptive management and climate adaptation. He has worked with various levels of government and other local partners in Canada, Southeast Asia, China and West Africa, on projects funded by innovation sponsors including private foundations, international organizations and public agencies, in both the profit and non-profit sectors. He holds a PhD in urban and regional planning from the University of California, Berkeley.
